(PRWeb UK) November 24, 2009 — On Friday, a number of local businesses showed their support for Children in Need, by taking part in the first ever “Stride Spice Shack” cooking extravaganza.

The event was organised by Computerquoteinsurance.com, an online personal lines insurance broker and its parent company Stride Limited; a commercial insurance broker that uniquely offers the option to buy property insurance online.

Residents at the Parklands Business Park in Denmead, Hampshire, came together to attend the lunchtime event where there was a selection of hot food available to purchase, with all profits naturally going to Children in Need.

Richard Lovegrove, Managing Director of Stride Limited, said of the event:

“It is fantastic to see so many people digging into their pockets when times are hard financially. Despite the weather, the turnout was great and the food delicious.”

However, it was not just the business park residents that chipped in. Local catering firm, Jongor Limited, provided all of the cooking equipment at a fraction of the normal cost, whilst the team at Asda in Waterlooville, Hampshire, generously donated bread rolls to accompany all of the hot meals sold.

In total, nearly £400 was taken on the day and the profits were pledged on Children in Need night. So far over £20 million has been raised for the cause with donations still flooding in. This money will be used to help disadvantaged children across the UK to support and help them “to realise their potential”.
